The List . . .

I'm a list person. Lately my list of things to do has grown. It's a list of yucky, crappy things that I really don't want to do but need to do. For the past few days I've been tackling that list and crossing off finished projects.

After painting my kitchen cabinets, I noticed how bad the trim in my kitchen looked. Painting trim is not something I enjoy. Not at all. But it needed to be done so I stopped complaining and got the paint and brushes out.

About, oh, a year ago we replaced our hideous gold door knobs with satin nickel knobs. I didn't change out the hinges but planned on painting them white to blend in with the doors. Fast forward 1 year and those hinges were still unpainted. I finally mustered up some motivation and painted those babies!

Before ~

After ~

I love how they blend in with the trim and door and almost disappear. Hopefully the paint won't all chip off! I guess if it does then we'll be replacing all the hinges. I'm sure Handyman Hubby would be thrilled to do that  : (

The handle to the sliding door in my family room didn't escape the white paint either! I'm not sure why I never painted it before. It sure looks a lot better now!

Remember my ugly candlestick I told you about here?
Take a look at her now after a few coats of black spray paint.

Just a reminder of what she looked like before . . .

No painting project of mine would be complete without a total disaster. I am really bummed about this one. I found a brass lamp at Goodwill and planned on painting it white and using it in my dining room. I put on 1 coat of paint and it looked amazing! The second coat of paint didn't go quite so well.

What the $%#* happened? Apparently I should have sanded first. Back to square one for this project.

Well that's what I've been doing for the past few days. Working on my list . . .
The fun never ends around here.

Have an awesome Wednesday!!

I'm In Love . . .

. . . with Mrs. Meyer's cleaners. Yes, you read that right. I am in love with a cleaner. Specifically the basil countertop spray. I love the fragrance of this stuff! Seriously, I want to spray everything in my house with it!! I keep smelling my kitchen countertops and my kids and Handyman Hubby think I'm nuts!

Being the thrifty mom that I am, I printed out some coupons that I found on-line and purchased the countertop spray and some hand soap. I couldn't find it at my local Walmart or Meijer but my fave store Tar-jay had it! Target, you rock!

I've tried a few "green" products but this is definitely my favorite. I have asthma and allergies and a lot of cleaners make me cough and wheeze. I will definitely be using this from now on. Who knew that a countertop spray would make me so happy and be Earth friendly too!

Mrs. Meyer's: If you read this and want to send me some coupons and/or products to try I would be so happy!!

More Spring Decorating Ideas . . .

. . . Yes, I'm still working on Spring/Easter decorations. Good thing Easter is late this year because at the rate I'm going I won't be finished for a while! Okay, onto the fun stuff. Remember the cheese dome that I found at Goodwill? I have wanted one of these forever and was so happy to finally find it!! I added a chunky candlestick that I already had then spray painted it white. Yeah! Now I finally have a cloche!!

I filled the cloche with some Easter grass, a few eggs and my little yellow chick that my Grandma made.

I'm just giddy thinking about all the fun things I can fill this with!! It doesn't take much to make me happy!!

I also found the cutest little moss bunny at Pier One today. He was only $3 so I had to get him.

I could scream!  That is just so darn cute!! I put the little moss bunny in a white pot that I already had. I used some floral foam in the bottom to hold it in place then filled the pot with moss and added ribbon.

So that's what I've been working on for the past few days. I know. Lame. But I have a good excuse for not getting much done. My kids are home on Spring Break this week and I had to go shopping (and out to lunch!) with my BFF today.

Don't forget to vote for me! I'm #28 now! Woo hoo! Almost made it to page #1!!! Thanks peeps! You all rock!! You can vote once each day. Just click the button on my sidebar.

Spring Has Sprung!!

I started pulling out the Spring/Easter decorations today and worked on my family room. It was a nice day here ~ about 70 degrees!! Woo hoo! I opened some windows and enjoyed the fresh spring air.

Remember my table that I decorated for St. Patrick's Day? Well, it's all decked out and ready for spring!

I found the little bird and nest at Michael's and just set it on a plate I already had. I also found the speckled eggs at Michael's and used my 40% coupon to get them for $2.99. I put the eggs in one of my glass hurricanes and tied a ribbon around it. The Spring artwork is from Janet at Today's Fabulous Finds. She makes them for different seasons/holidays and you can print them right off her blog! Please go check out her blog when you get a chance.

The little birdhouse is also from Michael's and was only $1.00!! It was unfinished so I painted it yellow and white. The candlesticks I already had but spray painted them (they were dark brown). On one of the candles I added ribbon and the other I added a scrap piece of decorative paper and a button.

I have also made a few changes in my family room. It felt so dark to me and I wanted to lighten it up a bit. I started by making some new pillows from linen napkins. Then I painted my side table white. It was black and seemed to get lost in the corner. Here is what it looked like before:

And now:

I like it so much better painted white! The details of the table show up now and the corner doesn't seem so dark.

I still have lots more to do but I'm tired so it's time for a break! The strawberry cheesecake ice cream in my freezer is calling my name!
